Home Grown “I Dos”: Backyard Weddings Heat Up This Spring And Summer Season
Mar 06, 2017 01:11 PM Back
Did you know that the “rich and famous” often host their nuptials “at home”. That’s right…estate celebrations are hot among the haute crowd…and now Long Island brides with a lush and lavish lawn can take advantage of this “trend”.
From Garden parties to rustic nuptials and authentic western celebrations, the sky’s the limit when it comes to outdoor innovation or inspiration.
Here are a few tips and tricks for hosting the event of your dreams, right at home.
All Hands On Deck: Is someone in the family a flower fanatic…or know someone who is a florist. Do you know someone who can bake? How about someone in your group whose a true foodie or better yet, a chef. Ask them for some help and get all hands on deck for a home-style feast that sure to be a treat.
Hired Help: Consider catering (if you can’t do it yourself)… and don’t forget to include servers who can take the pressure off you when it comes to taking care of your guests. Set up serving stations, much like a buffet and have your assistants guide guests to getting what they need and cleaning up after them.
Awesome Accents: Think about your theme, then “go to town” on turning your space into an outdoor extravaganza. Stick to your budget by putting your emphasis on high end items first. Think flowers, seating, tents, tent fans, porto-potties, and a dance floor first…the rest you can “improvise” on.
Something Borrowed: Save rather than splurge by asking friends for “donations” such as wine carafs, chaffing dishes, trays, etc. And, stay open to shopping around, especially from garage sales for a truly authentic vintage/rustic celebration.
Designer Dancing: Besides the basics consider signing up for a free spotify account and asks guests to help customize your wedding day playlist which you can stream into your celebration.
Go Au Naturele: Consider looking into your own backyard for items you can use. Consider sticks and twigs for centerpiece accents or using a tree stump as a cake stand. You may even want to carve your initials or wedding date into it.
Park and Ride: Asks guests to carpool to save on parking spaces or partner with a local business or church and ask if you could use their lot for a small donation or fee. Neighbors, may also be willing to let you use their parking spots, garage, driveway, etc…especially if they are invited to the wedding.
